Wild Child Preschool - OAKLAND, CA

Wild Child’s next iteration took them from a playspace to a pre-school with a rigorous curriculum focused on learning and play. We used brand colors to highlight the architecture of the space and working within the branding we developed of fluid forms to design a flexible space where both learning and fun could take place daily for children under five.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Scale Collective worked closely with our client design the first preschool for Wild Child in the Temescal area of Oakland. Furthering our design language that we had developed for the original playspace, we transformed this beautiful Spanish building using neutrals, and pops of color. We worked closely with the architect and fabricator to design custom children’s millwork into the space. The space is designed to be able to be flexible for events and various uses by the children so we devised a furniture plan that consists of many of movable furnishings and elements that can be changed and re-arranged throughout the school year. Wild Child has a vigorous but fun attitude towards learning and play is a central theme of both the design and space - that children learn through play.
